Cannes Jury Prize winner RED ROAD, the feature film debut of Oscar-winning writer and director Andrea Arnold, has just been released in the UK and has received rave reviews throughout the British press.
It tells the story of Jackie who works as a CCTV operator in Glasgow?s Red Road flats, each day watching over a small part of the world, protecting the people living their lives under her gaze. One day a man appears on her monitor, a man she thought she would never see again and she has no choice, she is compelled to confront him.
Produced by Red Road Films, a subsidiary of Glasgow-based Sigma Films in collaboration with Zentropa Films the film stars Kate Dickie (Who Do You Love) in the leading role, together with Tony Curran (Miami Vice, Gladiator, Blade II), Martin Compston (Sweet Sixteen) and Natalie Press (My Summer of Love).
There is little music in the film, but Honeyroot?s haunting rendition of the seminal classic ?Love Will Tear Us Apart? has been chosen to run through the final scene and closing credits. The dramatic impact of this beautiful song at the end of this tense and gripping film is quite extraordinary.
Love Will Tear Us Apart is available as a single TAOS003 and also on the album Sound Echo Location TAO008
