Ivano Bogino
Biography

Ivano Bogino
Inspired by the sunshine that shines from within on his Island of Dreams, Ivano Bogino's passion for the guitar shines through his music, conjuring up images of Spanish courtyards, basking in a late afternoon sun and drenched in multitudinous layers of Baroque and folk influenced strings.

Ivano Bogino was born in the little town of Citadella in the Padova region of Northern Italy. His parents were acrobats, and came from a long line of entertainers who worked the globe and participated in the making of the circus film era of the 1940's in the USA.

Ivano lived a travelling life, on the road until he was 8 years old when his family settled in the beach town of Viareggio in the Toscona region of Italy. At 13 he was inspired by Jimi Hendrix to learn the guitar. Broke, and unable to pay for an instrument, Ivano went to the local carpenter, picked up some pieces of scrap wood and built his own acoustic guitar. Two years later he had saved up enough to buy his first electric, and, once brought, he lost no time in forming his first local rock band.

At 18, wanting to travel the world, Ivano set off to London. There he lived for 5 years, playing his guitar and gaining a wide circle of artistically minded friends, one of whom had just returned from Ibiza. Inspired by his tales of the tranquil Mediterranean Island, Ivano upped and moved to the Balaerics.

However, it was not long before the isolation and quietness of the island made Ivano restless again, and, wanting more outside contact he set off stateside, and spent the next 7 years living in California, returning to Ibiza whenever possible. With Ivano now settled in the land of Fender and Gibson guitars, he really began to get inspired, composing and recording at his own home as well as jamming with neighbourhood musicians.

It was while in California that he met Jessis Liamae, a long time blues, jazz and rock guitarist and friend of Sammy Hagar. Jessie became Ivano's guitar teacher, mentor and inspiration. On returning to Ibiza, and adding a classical guitar to his collection, Ivano continued to play in the local rock band, and began composing what would later become his debut album. A combination of electric, acoustic steel and nylon strung guitars are all present on the album, mixed with the worlds and cultures they come from, culminating in a unique journey through sound.
