Spacefood & Balloons is the first single to be taken from Padma?s debut album, Here. The title track shows the upbeat and uplifting side of the album, and showcases Padma?s talent as a reflective and witty lyricist, and the B-side is a true reflection of the albums gentler moments - Padma's soft voice and lulling guitar technique together as one.

Padma hails from a small suburban town near Sheffield in the North of England. He has been a practicing Buddhist for over 10 years and at one time intended to spend his life as part of a Buddhist Order. In the end it was his inability to cope with that exact thing ? order ? that led to him going his own way, choosing instead the path of the artist.

Padma?s songs speak both of the mud and the sky - both the gutter and the stars. The album reaches in mood from the upbeat optimism of Funny and The Ballad Of G & Eva, to the heartfelt introspection of Half A Person and Throw My Drugs Away, Padma?s lyrics are very personal, but through drawing on personal experiences and observations, he often makes a wider philosophical or political point. His gentle, lulling guitar technique is embellished with the subtle use of percussion, vintage effects and analog synthesizers, creating a timeless and other-worldly acoustic-based sound.

Padma on Western politics:
The late Capitalist system is incapable of nourishing the individuals who live within it. It is simply not designed for that purpose. Given its self-centred, fragmented, and short term focus, and its incessant need to generate ever-new markets, it seems obvious too that this model is not ideally suited to tackling the impending environmental crisis.

Padma on Buddhism:
I might be on a mountain, washing the dishes in my outdoor kitchen, but fundamentally I'm still just washing the dishes. It is in these moments - the vast majority of one's life - that Buddhist practice shows its worth, by revealing the subtle magnificence of the everyday. Bliss in the check out queue. Tranquility on the tube.

Padma on the Olympic torch:
The Chinese government, and the Olympic committee, are emphasising the fact that the torch is a symbol of harmony and unity. Well I?m all for harmony and unity, but in order for people to unite and live harmoniously, they must be free. Until that is the case in Tibet, and in China as a whole, these words are nothing more than propaganda.

Padma?s debut album, Here, will be released on June 2nd 2008 on Just Music
