Future Loop Foundation came to life with its debut album release in 1996, and four other albums have followed since, as well as an impressive run of remixes, soundtracks and live appearances.
After a stunning set from Future Loop Foundation at last year’s Big Chill festival, Just Music and Mark Barrott started discussing the obvious synergy between the philosophy of the label and the sound and style of Future Loop Foundation.
We are now thrilled to announce the release of The Fading Room: Memories and Remixes, a beautiful album constructed from recordings of family interviews that have laid dormant in an attic somewhere in the north of England for almost a quarter of a century.
Mark Barrott has assembled a highly personal and organic album around these speech samples, using electronic and acoustic instruments as one to present an album that sparkles with originality and wit. It achieves an intriguing balance between conjuring up snapshots of a nostalgic past, whilst being wholly contemporary in musical vision. This musical vision of The Fading Room when performed live by Future Loop Foundation is combined with live visuals performed and mixed by Myogenic which develops this "then" and "now" vision further with a bitter sweet look at the past and the present and the social and political implications for us all."
This beautifully packaged release comes together with an accompanying album of remixes of key tracks by Rob Da Bank & Chris Coco, Tunng, Beauty Room, The Go! Team, Jon Kennedy and Padded Cell amongst others.

“Gorgeous chilled out music remixed by Rob Da Bank - worthy of a place on the shelf next to Lemon Jelly and Zero 7. Also featured mixes by Chris Coco and Pete Lawrence. Summery, floaty, trippy, lovely and very, very special”

“Led by Rob da Bank and Chris Coco’s remix of the titular track, this brief EP presents three songs as a taster of Future Loop Foundation’s forthcoming The Fading Room album. It’s a patchwork of vocal samples, acoustic guitar pickings and woozy Orb-like beats. Pleasant, easy going, nice. Could do with a cool cocktail and a sun-kissed balcony to make it that bit more special, mind. The album could be one to treasure”

“A gorgeous album… an aching poignancy”
“The music sends shivers down your spine - in turns, epic, elegiac, elegant. There’s a beautifully judged diversity too - nothing heavy-handed but everything chosen to give an extra spark. The seamlessness of the album also brings a great sense of cohesion as each track flows into the next”
“Brings a sincerity to the sadness that at times can reduce you to tears”
“Anyone lucky enough to be at last year’s Big Chill would know just how brilliant this is. Now we can all enjoy one of the albums of the year”
Bearded Magazine
“Deliciously chilled out and wonderfully trippy, this collection of ambient soundscapes from Mark Barrott - the brains behind Future Loop Foundation, will not fail to send your imagination flying. From the soaring flutes and hypnotising violins on ‘Homegrown Dynamic’, looped over rough northern voices asking “what would you like to be when you grow up Jamie?” to the summer-infused ‘Sunshine Philosophy’ where trickling water, an acoustic guitar and the sound of children playing transport you to a sun drenched country field, this album will take hold of you senses and make them explode. The double CD set also comes with inspired remixes from Rob Da Bank, Chris Coco and The Go! Team”

“Ambient lounge music steeped in Englishness… a reassuring charm… a logical progression from his 'Scratch and Sniff' ep from 2004… Barrott seamlessly melds together voice samples and synth experiments… chilled grooves weave their blissed out charm”
“These tracks glow with a radiant nostalgia for the charm of a perfect English summer day… Warm electronica… The 'beauty room remix' of 'Everything As It Should Be' is a beautiful chill out number to play while sipping a glass of warm beer on the patio while admiring a newly mowed lawn. It's officially Summer”

“Memories transcends simply being a witty curiosity, and the huge charm that the original recordings have lends the whole project a real sense of dignity. This, coupled with the inspired accompanying music, makes Memories a hugely enjoyable experience, not to mention a triumphant album” SubbaCultcha
