‘Sentences’ is the second single from Digitonal’s much anticipated third studio album, ‘Set the Weather Fair’, due for release on 23rd October.
Henry Purcell’s ‘Canzona’ from his ‘Funeral Sentences’ orginally composed in 1695 for the State Funeral of Queen Mary has been recontextualised many times, most notably by both Wendy Carlos in her original Clockwork Orange score, and also by proto-trance act Cygnus X’s as their ‘Orange Theme’’.
Digitonal’s inspired take on this soars and swells, starting and ending with Dobson’s exquisite piano playing, enhanced further by the tender and delicate sounds of his clarinet. The whole track builds up into a wide and beautiful expanse of sound before finally quietly falling back into exquisite fragility. It gives us a sense of solemnity and stateliness – there is a depth and loveliness here – the music is utterly beautiful.

“I love the way ambient music continues to evolve into the broadest of churches. For me, it’s about wordless expression, in the same way that abstract art can evoke more emotion than the figurative.“
The End Is Just The Beginning is the fourth and final single from the forthcoming album, Set The Weather Fair.
‘Orion’ is the new single from Digitonal’s upcoming new album, Set The Weather Fair, due for release on 23rd October 2020
The second single from Digitonal’s much anticipated third studio album, ‘Set the Weather Fair’.
“Set The Weather Fair is wordless music, but a narrative remains. It reflects the swell at Sizewell beach on a cold January morning, the landscape of North-Eastern Slovenia, the hope in new beginnings and seeking perspective within the vastness of the night sky. It is a record about changeability, permanence and the importance of creating things, big and small, artistic and human.” Andrew Dobson
“The Dance’s Pattern is titled after a line from Auden. It reflects both the intricate unfolding of the polyrhythmic patterns in the tune but also the emotional corkscrew that the creative process often is. This was about Dom and I working around each other’s creative process, but more importantly how we felt about the act of creation which was vastly different and a complex emotional landscape to navigate.”
Against the backdrop of COVID-19 it seems to us that the only appropriate response we as Just Music & The Ambient Zone can make is to continue to let our music do the talking.
