Form | Function EP

Fusing the fidgety rhythms of classic IDM with the soaring melodies of golden-era progressive house.”

Form | Function is the EP and wonderful introduction to forthcoming Echaskech album ‘Origin’ (out 24th Feb). It features 2 other exclusive tracks and a remix by Arkist.

On ‘Origin’, their third album for Just Music, Echasckech have introduced new sonic sources including analogue hardware, live percussion, field recordings, piano plus bass and acoustic guitar – all underpinned with good old fashioned software synthesis and sound design.

‘Origin’ was created to be otherworldly yet organic in theme, to conjure up images of distant places alongside themes of exploration and habitation of new worlds. The results straddle multiple genres with a sound that refuses to be easily defined in general terms yet retains a distinct epic and melodic slant.

Past acclaim:

‘Echaskech display proficiency very much akin to the likes of Apparat, Ellen Allien, Modeselektor etc. Every track has kicks and bass that roll up and punch you in the stomach with the precision of only the best metaphorical black belts’
Drowned In Sound

‘There is beauty to be glimpsed in the far off sound pictures they use, while the raking beats are never stilled, keeping the outlook always changing and always interesting’
DMC Album of the Week

‘This is where Orbital, Brian Eno, The Radiophonic Workshop, Warp’s Artificial Intelligence series from the early ’90s and good old tuneful, contemporary, grimy dance music collide, and it proves to be an immersive, enjoyable journey’
MUSIC OMH

‘it’s the ability to match the rough with the smooth that makes Shatterproof win through. With a second album of melodic electronica, filthy funk and soaring goosebump raisers under their belts, it could be time that the ‘Skechy boys got the credit they’re due.’
IDJ – 9/10

‘In short, a dizzying journey across the spectrum of dance music, creating something that is not only unique, but all encompassing. Albums like this don’t come along every day. When they do, seize them, treasure them…Very special’
Subba-Cultcha

‘This is an album of original material superbly executed and guaranteed to appeal.” 5/5
Utterly Fantastic! – I-DJ Magazine

‘One of the albums of the year. Phenomenal. Electronica at its very best – think Orbital meets Jon Hopkins with a bit of Schnauss thrown in for good measure’
Fluid Nation

‘Twisted contemporary take on Kraftwerk, Brian Eno and even Ulrich Schnauss. Add to that remixes from dubstep hot act Sbtrkt and electro disco rework from Virgil Howe, we have something that needs to be heard. Brought to you from the label that gave us Jon Hopkins, do track down’
Pathaan – iDJ

‘Echaskech may sound lush and atmospheric but this is ambience with teeth…as a live proposition, Echaskech toughen up into a true armoured dance animal with crunching beats and vicious synth snipes as standard…with the addition of Mach V (visuals) Echaskech become a truely immersive audio-visual experience where melody and groove are prime directives.’
